The new era of Fran Carballo begins at the head of CV Hidramar Gran Canaria against a demanding CV Kiele

The appointment of the fifth date of the league calendar for the CV arrives Hydramar Gran Canaria and it does so in a week that is emotionally complicated and with the change of coach still looming in the air.. Fran Carballo He makes his official debut at the head of the first team and he does so after taking on the challenge of replacing Marcos Dreyer at the head of the bench.

Your first rival will be this Saturday (4:00 p.m.) a CV Kiele Socuéllamos that lands on the Island as third placewith a balance of three victories -one of them in the tie-breaker and a single defeat -, which comes from quickly knocking out CV Sant Cugat, a team that co-led the table until that last day.

The team led by Chema Rodríguez, an old acquaintance of the Olympic fans, has become accustomed in recent times to being one of the eternal contenders for the titles at stake, a regular in the Queen’s Cups and in the playoffs for the titles. The socuellaminas are characterized by never giving up a ball for lost and matches against them usually always have a reserved forecast.

Kiele has a very solid centre-back pairing made up of Renata Benedito and Angie Vente Hinestrozain addition to having one of the best national opponents, Ane Cengotitabengoa and the solvency in the rearguard of its libero Eliana Gonzalez and of Carolina Martinez in the reception, as outstanding players in this league start.

For its part, CV Hidramar Gran Canaria arrives at tomorrow’s event after its defeat in the Canarian derby against Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna (3-1), which has relegated the yellow team to fifth place with a balance of three victories -two of them in sudden death- and one defeat.

Fran Carballo has focused on working on the emotional state of his players this week, demanding from them extra aggressiveness and competitiveness as expected of the current league champions. The team in Tenerife showed signs of blocking in several phases of the game that ultimately cost them their first league defeat.

Against a rival like Kiele, who never gives anything away, the Gran Canarian team will have to give their best version to recover sensations and the lost path to victory. For this, the new Olympic coach will not be able to count on Laura Suárez or Beatriz Novoa, who are competing in the Pan American with their national teams, Cuba and Chile.

The offensive trio formed by the captain Saray Manzano, Sulián Matienzo and Heloiza Pereirais a guarantee to be able to aspire to take flight and spirit, with the Super Cup event at the Santiago Martín, waiting for the yellow team just around the corner, on November 1.

Fran Carballo: “I hope to see a change of image and attitude towards Kiele”

The new coach of CV Hidramar Gran Canaria considers that in the match against CV Kiele “what worries me the most is us, if there is a change in the players’ mood I think we will have a good chance of winning the match.” Regarding the rival, he considers that “as the days have gone by they have improved, they started very weak, the next day they were a little better and in the last game against Sant Cugat they played a fairly correct game, with few errors and they were good in attack”. In his opinion it is “an organized rival, who fails little and that is why we need the team to be in good spirits, to be able to show their full potential and try to stop them.”

Fran Carballo acknowledges that “on Monday I found a very low team and what we have tried to work on throughout the week is to get those players back into a dynamic of work, effort, intensity and I think a small evolution has been noticed.” “. “We must try to get a little more involved every day and give us everything they have to give, so that that intensity is later reflected in each game,” says the Gran Canarian.

Regarding the importance of the match against Kiele, “regardless of the result, taking into account that we always want to win, it is important to see a change of image, because that will be a very positive aspect and if we win the match afterwards, it will be great “I want to see another attitude.”

The new manager of the Olympic bench took the opportunity to appeal to the fans: “I hope they come to see us, we are going to try to play a good game so that the people who come enjoy the show.”

Sulián Matienzo: “Against Kiele the games are always 3-2”

The Cuban recipient of the CV Hidramar Gran Canaria naturally accepts the change of boss on the bench. “We know Fran from last season, he was our second and we all got along very well with him,” acknowledges Matienzo, who believes that “he is going to help us a lot in this downturn we are having now.”

Sulián recognizes that the team is “in a bad moment, it’s not a secret to anyone, but I also think it’s normal, because you can’t always be good, we have to show the type of players we are and how capable we can be.” to face what we have and I think that with Kiele if we win and manage to show our best side, it will be very good emotionally for everyone.

Looking back and analyzing last week’s defeat against Haris in Tenerife, the Cuban states that “I don’t think they are a bit better than us, but it was their day, they played very well and we didn’t play, so “If we had played, it would have probably been a totally different game.” However, the Olympic recipient emphasizes that “we do not take away any merit from them, because they knew how to be organized and play very well.”

The squad is focused on preparing for tomorrow’s game against Kiele, “studying their defense, how they block, their serves, focused on recovering and winning, which is our fundamental objective.”

Matienzo expects a long game, since “against them the games are always 3-2, in the Cup, in the League and it will be a strong game because they also have a great squad this year.”

The Cuban demands the support of the fans, as she recognizes that “almost no people come to see us, I would tell them to come and support us because that also puts pressure on the rival, like they do to us when we play away from home.” “They will be able to see an Olympic team like the one they are used to seeing, with good faces, shouting, cheering and trying to make the victory ours.”

Personally, she recognizes that “I am not very satisfied with my last game against Haris, but I am being quite consistent in my game throughout this season, we all have good and bad days, losing to Tenerife is not going to make me go down.” my performance in the other games”. “I want my team to rise, for us to be the same and to be at the top of the table again,” she adds.

Looking ahead to the Super Cup, the Cuban estimates that “if we play well against Kiele, that will give us confidence to face that final.”
