The plenary session of Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council rejected this morning the motion presented by the socialist municipal group for the creation of a investigation commission about him Pisaca Fest.

The PSOE of the capital asked to analyze the events that occurred in the last edition of the event, held on September 29th in the neighborhood The Toscal, to clarify the causes and clarify responsibilities for the organization.

The CC and PP groups voted against this investigation considering that what happened were minor events and that the event was suspended immediately when the capacity of 800 to 1,200 people was exceeded.

What happened at the Pisaca Fest?

The services that intervened that night ensured that brawls broke out among those attending. Likewise, they stated that the capacity, estimated at around 800 people, was around 1,500 “since there were no controls at the entrance,” which was free access, and that the majority of those present were minors, “many of them in a state of drunkenness” who either had brought their own alcohol, or “had sold it to them inside.”

Sources from the Local Police point out that there was a failure to plan and that before the start of the event, only one unit had been sent to carry out frequent travel tasks, although once it “got out of control”, six of the eight had to be moved. patrols available for the entire city.

Although the Local Police were aware of the event, “the orders of the service were limited to establishing a reserved parking area and making frequent tours with a patrol car.”

Six patrols had to act

When a brawl broke out around eight in the afternoon, the Local Police decided to stay focused on the event, in which “moments of tension were also experienced” because Civil Protection closed traffic on the nearby streets, which prevented passage. to the parents of the young people who were going to pick them up.

The sources point out that although there was a security plan planned, “it was not appropriate” for the type of event that was going to take place, since at first it was thought that it would be “fun and family-friendly and not about Carnival-type drinking.” .

In fact, the Local Police did not carry out controls on the sale of alcohol to minors because no one anticipated that it would be necessary, “although it is usual for a fellow civilian to carry out this task.”

“There was also an ambulance that transported a minor due to alcohol coma and the event was left without health support. We had to evacuate because there was no capacity control, which was exceeded, and there was only private security at the exit,” add the teams involved.

Sources from the National Police alluded, however, that what happened was limited to the fact that there was “a small brawl” and “the party had to end early.”
