A dragon tree falls in La Oratava on the neighbor’s building and ‘traps’ 25 cars in a parking lot

“In a request received yesterday, the owner requested a report on the feasibility of the transfer of a centenary specimen of dragon tree,” summarizes Benítez, before pointing out that this request does not state the reason nor does it “refer any symptoms.”

In any case, a visit to the tree was scheduled from the local institution, “but the call was just received alerting them that it had fallen.” Regarding the causes, the Orotavense councilor explains that “it is difficult to know once it has already fallen, but it probably has to do with damage caused by the passage of time and perhaps affected by the rains of recent days.

The councilor adds that the event has also been managed with the Cabildo de Tenerife so that the biodiversity technicians can take charge of the specimen. “For now, some of the branches They will be taken to the nursery to try to carry out a genetic studyon the one hand, and seeing the possibilities of using them to transplant them, on the other,” adds the councilor of La Orotava, who insists that after the fall there is only material damage.
