SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Tenerife will host the ‘Turespaña 2024 Convention’, as announced this Tuesday by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, and the general director of Turespaña, Miguel Ángel Sanz Castedo, during the closing session of the ‘III Convention of Turespaña’ held at the Kursaal in San Sebastián.

The vice president and advisor of Tourism of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Lope Afonso, points out in a note that they have welcomed the news “with great satisfaction” because Turespaña attracts “the cream of the crop” of the sector in Spain and has a representation of the main tourist actors on the international scene, “generating the opportunity for the island to continue being a reference destination.”

Afonso also highlights that parallel activities will be developed at this event and hopes that “the different issues that concern the general interests of the destination, from promotion to connectivity, can have a place in the work program carried out at this event. so important”.

In her speech, after the island’s designation was made public, the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife, Dimple Melwani, thanked the “honour” that Tenerife is hosting the convention, “a key event for the national tourism sector and fully aligned with the only successful Governance model, public-private collaboration.”

The CEO of the tourism company added that “tourism, the main industry in the Canary Islands, not only drives the region’s gross domestic product, but also supports the stability of employment and the quality of life of the local population.”

He specified, thus, that the current focus on the island “is to bet on the quality of tourism, relieving the pressure of the number of visitors to focus on the singularities of Tenerife, such as its excellent climate, nature, the quality of services and its gastronomy, culture and traditions, in order to capture a traveler profile with a medium-high purchasing power that leaves greater spending and profitability in the destination.”

The CEO of Tourism of Tenerife concluded by thanking Turespaña for having valued the candidacy “and for choosing Tenerife”, while also thanking “the great effort and talent of the Tenerife Tourism team and all the agents of the tourism sector on the island that make the celebration of this great news possible today.

DIGITALIZATION

The ‘IV Turespaña Convention’ in Tenerife will be held in the municipality of Adeje in the month of October 2024 and will make the island the center of the debate on the Spanish tourism sector.

The theme of the Tenerife convention will be digitalization, which together with sustainability, which has focused on the recently closed event, “will be the levers to build a sector that adapts quickly to market changes, to its new consumers, and to contribution to generating sustainable and efficient destinations,” Melwani advanced.

For three days, the sessions will include presentations, round tables, market presentations and bilateral meetings between different public and private actors and Spanish Tourism advisors abroad.

The convention is a space for meeting, collaboration and planning between Turespaña and its network of tourism departments abroad, as well as destinations and Spanish tourism companies, which seeks to promote both the exchange of information and joint reflection on the most relevant challenges and strategies of what is the main industry of our economy.
