The Tenerife fire is reduced to level 0 after improving weather conditions

The Government of the Canary Islands has updated to level zero the emergency situation declared in twelve municipalities of Tenerife after the forest fire that started on August 15, which remains controlled and with favorable weather conditions of higher relative humidity.

The update was agreed this Tuesday by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands following a request from the Tenerife Cabildo in which it demands that the emergency be declared level 0 given the favorable evolution in the fire area.

Since its inception, the fire has affected the municipalities of Arafo, Güímar, Candelaria, El Rosario, Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Victoria, La Matanza, Santa Úrsula, La Orotava, Los Realejos and Fasnia.

The fire remains under control and weather conditions are favorable as there has been an increase in relative humidity and a drop in temperatures after the heat wave that has been affecting the Canary Islands since October 1 subsided.

Likewise, during the last week the tail of Storm Bernard has left rain in the emergency areas, as explained by the General Directorate of Emergencies.
