SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG), Casimiro Curbelo, pointed out this Tuesday that the Canary Islands budgets for 2024 “are prudent” and has valued the boost to investments aimed at fundamental social public services.

In the words of Curbelo, the current context marked by the lack of definition of fiscal rules and the uncertainty regarding payments on account by the State, “means that the Canary Islands have to opt for prudence, but with an eye toward in dimensioning public investment for Health, Education and Social Services”.

Thus, he assured that of the 11.3 billion euros budget, “we must prioritize all those investments that are aimed at improving the quality of life of the Canary Islands, through strengthening the social shield.”

Along these lines, he insisted on planning stimuli for the economic revitalization of the islands, “which is another basis for progress.”

For this reason, it positively valued the general lines of the accounts presented by the Government that reflect the prioritization of spending on fundamental social public services, the promotion of the development of the productive sectors and the growth of the items from the Canary Islands Municipal Financing Fund. together with the creation of an extraordinary bonus on the final price of fuel for the ‘green islands’, with a provision of 9.5 million euros.

Curbelo also emphasized the tax deductions proposed and that establish reductions in the IGIC rates for the transport of travelers on the same island, medical equipment and other health instruments, as well as supporting the extension of the deduction for increase in prices in force from 2022 and the maintenance of tax relief measures via personal income tax, agreed to by the previous Government.

He trusted that during the parliamentary process, the project “will come out stronger” with the contribution of each of the groups and announced that ASG will guide the presentation of amendments towards the achievement of projects, especially linked to the ‘green islands’.

“We have been consistent with our idea of a supportive Canary Islands and in this case we will delve into all those actions that are oriented in this direction, from measures for infrastructure and public services or cohesion instruments that structure the islands,” he said.
