A new cayuco with 93 migrants arrived during the night of this Sunday at the La Restinga Pier (El Hierro), according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 112.
In this way, Salvamento Marítimo intercepted the irregular vessel in waters located to the south of the island and transported them to the El Hierro dock.
The usual medical device in these cases was waiting there, made up of the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), which assisted the 93 occupants, all of whom were in apparent good health.
This Saturday alone, more than 1,000 migrants arrived to the Canary Islands aboard different boats and cayucos, of which 813 did so to El Hierro, highlighting one cayuco with 320 people, the largest since the ‘Canary route’ was opened. in 1994.
