Hashish, minors in an alcohol coma, fights and even a taser gun. A police report has shown the lack of security and control that occurred on September 29 in the Pisaca Young Fest, a party for all audiences organized by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council. The document, prepared by the Local Police and to which it has had access Canary Islands Nowdetails the panorama that the agents encountered on the night of October 29, when they went to the Casa Pisaca sports fields, in the El Toscal neighborhood.
Calls to the Police began at 7:30 p.m. Some attendees reported that “brawls were taking place inside and that there were a large number of minors consuming alcoholic beverages.” When the agents arrived at the scene, they could see how, both inside and outside the premises, there were minors drinking.
Shortly after, another call came with a new alert: there was a taser gun at the party. It was not until 8:30 p.m. when the councilor of the Centro-Ifara district, Purificación Dávila, requested the presence of the Local Police because the party was “overflowing” and “many people” urgently needed the police presence “both inside and outside.” ”. The Local Police sent four patrols to the festival.
When they arrived, the music had stopped. The lack of control forced the party to end ahead of schedule. At the door of the venue there were a hundred more people trying to enter, but inside the allowed capacity had already been greatly exceeded. Although the Security Plan contemplated a maximum capacity of 800 people, the agents verified that there were at least 1,200 at the party. Among them were eleven-year-old children.
According to this report, they requested the collaboration of the National Police on up to five occasions, which took time to travel to the area as they were in another control service.
Once the premises were evacuated, a minor was left inside in an alcohol coma. The young woman had to wait 40 minutes for an ambulance, since those at the party were already busy assisting other minors also in an alcohol coma. Two minors had to be taken to a health center and three others were treated for alcohol ingestion.
The report points out that, as it was an event for all audiences, the sale of alcoholic beverages was authorized in the different kiosks installed on the fields. Officers also located hashish at the party. City Hall justified after eviction that “the sale of alcohol to minors was prohibited.”
Garbage containers at exits
Leaving the party was an impossible mission for many young people who wanted to leave. A group of young people assured the agents that they were trying to leave because there was a rumor that “they were poking the girls.”
Civil Protection did not allow them to leave and they installed fences that forced all attendees to leave through a single door. These fences also hindered the agents’ work when they tried to go in to help a minor who was in poor health. Later they removed the fences, but replaced them with garbage containers.
Xenophobic hoaxes
The police report also criticizes that the person in charge of Civil Protection spoke on the phone during the operation stating that “some Moors were arming it.”
“We want to note that the majority of the minors who were in the place were of Spanish nationality, and it is not appropriate for the person in charge of a public service to make that type of comment in the presence of people who are in the area,” concludes the document.
The socialist municipal group is studying going to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, as councilor Florentino Guzmán has informed this newspaper. In addition, the PSOE has requested the appearance of the Security Councilor, Gladys de León, and the district councilor, Purificación Dávila.
