The best restaurants in the heart of Santa Cruz de Tenerife according to the Repsol Guide

The Repsol Guide has awarded 359 new Soletes arrestaurants that are located in the heart of the historic centers and the most central neighborhoods of the main Spanish cities. In this new selection, he has designated with this distinction nine establishments Tenerife.

This autumn edition, the Repsol Guide has focused on the provincial capitals throughout Spain, although other cities such as Cartagena, Gijón, Santiago de Compostela, Reus (Tarragona) or Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) also join in. In the case of Canary Islandsthe list focuses on Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, cities that total 14 Soletes.

Since the birth of the Soletes, in the summer of 2021, the award-winning establishments are ranked in six different categories.

Among the notable establishments There are bars, bars and taverns, to have a beer or a soft drink; cafes and pastry shops; restaurants and eateries with menus; or wine bars and cocktail bars.

“The Soles recognize the value of businesses that have stood the test of time and fashion without losing charm and clientele and also supports young people who are starting out with their first project,” the organization points out.

These are the nine restaurant businesses that are launching Solete in this new edition of the Repsol Guide:

Coffee shops

La Garriga sandwich. The day

The Garriga

Of this establishment, the Repsol Guide points out that it is “one of the classics from downtown Santacrucero where a stop is essentialmainly for the legendary sandwiches (particularly the cured meat) and variety of beers.”

Refers to the tortilla sandwichmythical among the population of Tenerife who for years has gone to Pérez Galdós Street in the capital of Tenerife to enjoy this delicacy. A few years ago it abandoned its legendary establishment as a delicatessen and moved a few meters to open a new location on the same street as a cafeteria.

There it continues to have the same success, to such an extent that it is one of the four most requested establishments on the Island in Glovo.

100% Puff Pastry Exhibitor. The day

100% Puff Pastry

At 100% Hojaldre, the customer knows first-hand, face to face, the honesty of the raw materials, the preparation and handling of the product, the professionalism… A concept completely open to the public. The product is consumed in the freshest way possible and, although it may seem like a handicap, “it is attractive to savor a freshly baked puff pastry or a fresh cream, l“Puff pastries, pastries and pastries,” emphasizes Alexis García, who highlights that “the sweet is not locked in display cases nor is it refrigerated.”

García was a Revelation pastry chef at Madrid Fusión and has opened this establishment together with Marlene Hernández on Antonio de Lara and Zãrate streets to quickly gain the favor of customers.

El Águila Cafeteria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The day

The Eagle

Near the El Castillo shopping street, and next to the Plaza del Príncipe, it is a classic in the center and has been working well for many years. Throughout the year it has a cafeteria and bar service, which is very popular especially thanks to its terrace. Sometimes it becomes a nerve center at night.

Restaurants

Exterior of El Capricho de Nicomedes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The day

Nicomedes’ Whim

Located on Avenida Francisco La Roche (known as Avenida de Anaga), it is another of the names most recognized by the population when it comes to restoration in the capital.

He first stood out as fish and seafood supplier on the ground floor of the Nuestra Señora de África Market but already offers a quality menu on one of the main streets of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Mesón Castellano in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The day

Mesón Castellano

Located near the center Weyler Square, is one of the traditional and long-lived ones of Santa Cruz. It is an icon where, as its name indicates, you can enjoy good Spanish cuisine.

Mesón Los Tres Teniques Andres Gutierrez

Mesón Los Tres Teniques

Is one of the oldest in the city, to which the owner’s son gave a new twist to the concept of the establishment, on Emilio Calzadilla street in the Tenerife capital. Cured cheeses, ham, sausages, good wines and tasty stews They are part of their menu in which the classic is defended against so much revolution that has been experienced for some time now in the world of the kitchen, but which, above all, gives off a deeply sincere aroma, close to the diner and the product, the protagonist, and far from that shine – often narcissistic – of star chefs.

Znacks

Manoj Lakhani has been running this charming landmark for years and the food is excellent. It has an attached store specializing in Indian products, as summarized in the Repsol Guide.

La Chachi shows that reinventing yourself is complicated but possible. Imagination at the service of delicious appetizers, Spanish omelette or varied rice dishes. Nice urban concept.

Terraces

Interior of Cortxo. The day

Cortxo

“Very special atmosphere (small interior space) and cozy terrace. It has a ham cutter and a very fresh special recipe book to share. In addition, it has an excellent wine cellar.” This is the description given by the Repsol Guide of this terrace.

It perfectly fulfills the idea of these new Soletes: right in the heart of the city and in one of the oldest areas: Plaza Ireneo Gonzalez.
