The lagoon will host another year of the meeting between the Canary Islands and Mexico thanks to the celebration of the II cultural tour Day of the dead, night of the deadwhich will continue until the next November 4th. This is a commercial revitalization campaign equipped with different cultural and leisure activities that will have the tradition of the day of the dead as a common thread.

The presentation ceremony of this initiative took place yesterday and was attended by the first deputy mayor of La Laguna, Badel Albelo; the president of La Laguna Commercial Zone, Iván Pérez; the president of the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands, Abbas Moujir; the honorary consul of Mexico in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, María de los Ángeles Baca, and the vice-rector of Culture of ULL, Isabel León.

The central day in this entire cultural tour will be November 4. After the notable success of last year, the streets of the city will once again be filled with color, music, symbolism and tradition to host a catrina parade, in which the whole family can participate, and which will be entertained by the Mariachi Mencey Azteca, accompanied by the Yacambú dance group. The tour will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Doctor Olivera Square and will end near the La Concepción tower.

Also on November 4, between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., the special Day of the Dead ¡Toma Castaña! will be celebrated in front of the Mexican Consulate headquarters, in the Plaza de la Concepción.

Thematic cinema will be one of the new features of this year’s programming. The little ones’ turn will be at 7:30 p.m., when a selection of children’s short films will be screened outdoors in the La Concepción area.

Next, around 8:30 p.m., attendees will be able to enjoy a talk about the world of chestnuts. Likewise, a selection of short films for those over 18 years of age will be screened. The first screening will take place at 8:30 p.m. and the second at 10:00 p.m., and between them a tasting of wine, chestnuts and music will be offered to the public.
