SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The entry of a cooler and more humid air mass from the Atlantic, expected in the next 48 hours, poses a new scenario for the efforts to extinguish the Tenerife forest fire, as it would contribute to maintaining the downward trend in terms of the number and intensity of reproductions.

Meanwhile, the management of the Special Protection Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response to Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA), meeting this morning, has agreed to maintain level 2 severity of the fire, as well as the deployment of extinguishing media.

With these fronts, cloudiness and relative humidity will increase, as well as the possibility of precipitation. Temperatures in the fire area will experience a drop in the next two days, around 4 or 5 degrees in the maximums and to a lesser extent in the minimums.

Regarding the wind, during today and tomorrow, Tuesday, the fire area will be under the breeze regime, which translates into light winds with intensities below 15 and 20 km/h and very variable direction. At night the southeast direction will predominate and during the day the northwest direction will predominate.

Regarding the evolution of the fire during the night, small incidents were recorded that were immediately resolved. Early this morning, a reactivation occurred in Montaña La Haya, in Tacoronte, which has been controlled.

During the day today, Monday, the extinguishing device is made up of 84 ground troops and four aerial means that will prioritize discharges on hot spots in Santa Úrsula as it is an area that is difficult to access for ground extinguishing teams. The ground operation will focus its intervention on possible reactivations that originate in the Ravelo sector.

Yesterday, Sunday, this operation worked on thirteen reactivations, located in the municipalities of Tacoronte, El Sauzal, La Matanza, Santa Úrsula and La Orotava.
