SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Since last morning, Maritime Rescue has coordinated the rescue of eight boats with a total of 456 people that were located in waters near Lanzarote and Gran Canaria and that departed from various points on the African coast, as reported by sources from the public body to Europe. Press.
During the early hours of the morning, the Al Nair sea rescue rescued three boats with 133 people. In one, 35 people of North African origin were traveling (29 men, 3 women and 3 minors); in another, which was located 16 miles from Arrecife, 45 people (41 men, 3 women, 1 of them pregnant, and 1 minor), and in a third, 53 sub-Saharan migrants (50 men and 3 women). All those rescued were taken to the port of Arrecife.
For its part, the Polimnia sea guard intercepted 13 miles east of Lanzarote, following an echo from the Civil Guard’s SIVE, a new boat in which 50 sub-Saharan people were traveling (40 men, 9 women and 1 minor). They were also taken to Arrecife. Likewise, along with helimer 201, the sea guard has rescued another boat with 48 North Africans (47 men and 1 woman).
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center has also mobilized the salvamar Izar to rescue 57 migrants of sub-Saharan origin (41 men, 14 women and 2 minors) who were taken to Gran Tarajal, in Fuerteventura.
Likewise, the Civil Guard reported a suspicious echo, a possible boat, 99 miles southeast of Maspalomas. Once confirmed by the Nunki sea rescue, they proceeded to rescue 84 sub-Saharan people (68 men, 14 women and 2 minors) who were taken to the port of Las Palmas.
Meanwhile, the Makondo sea rescue has intervened in the rescue of 84 sub-Saharan migrants (71 men, 11 women and 2 women) who had left Dakhla on a rubber boat, who have been transferred to the port of Arguineguín.
Last night, SUC and Red Cross personnel also attended to 50 migrants at the Los Cristianos dock who had been rescued during the afternoon by Maritime Rescue. They were located by a ship several miles south of Tenerife and all were in good general condition.
