Mousikê once again opts for a luxury guest in its programming for this month of October: Carlos Black Aguirre. Emblematic Argentine composer and multi-instrumentalist, he will land in the Canary Islands to give two masterclasses and three concerts.

The appointments will take place at Guiniguada Theater in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with masterclass and concert on Thursday the 19thin the Root Cultural Association of the Town of La Oliva de Fuerteventura with concert on Friday the 20that the Teatro Leal La Laguna in Tenerife with a masterclass on Saturday the 21st and, finally, with concert at the La Granja Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife the same Saturday.

With a prolific career of more than three decades, as applauded as recognized with various awards such as the National Award in the Music category by the Ministry of Culture of the Nation, Aguirre is “considered one of the most original creators of current music Argentine with folkloric roots and manager of a work born in the shelter of folklore as an identity brand understood as a dynamic, broad and changing expression. His compositions range from songs to a profound development of instrumental music with a chamber atmosphere, a technical exquisiteness typical of classical training and resources from popular music such as jazz and the sounds of Latin America. And, in his own words, “music is the result of a thought. And thought is built with a lot of legs that put together the concepts that one synthesizes in what one does. My music is the reading of a place, but it is the translation of an inner world, which is crossed by a lot of things, by the closest reality, by distant realities and by a good percentage of fantasy.”

As far as his two masterclasses are concerned, under the title Some triggers when creating compositions and arrangements in the field of Argentine folk music, the artist will share the diversity in sound resulting from his musical background that makes people talk about a chacarera rhythm as well as its influence when it comes to approaching a more modern approach to rhythm. In short, a transversal vision of the musician in the musical context, both in composition and logistics. On the other hand, the three concerts of Carlos “Negro” Aguirre, Retrospective, They will be a tour of his recording production through his instrumental works and his covered songs, this time in solo format in which he will be accompanied by keyboards and guitar.

The masterclasses are a production by Mousikê that since 2010 has been developing, uninterruptedly, numerous actions dedicated to teaching and musical practice that, starting its activity in La Laguna, is currently managing to transfer these actions to the rest of the Archipelago with its project Between Islands. The consolidation of its pedagogical action has also been recognized internationally when, four years ago, it became part of the Latin American Association of Music Schools, ALAEMUS, in addition to other forays into countries such as the United States, Italy, Brazil, Colombia, Chile or Japan where, also, Mousikê has given a good account of the music that has been made in the Canary Islands through his TIEMPO project (Research Work and Evolution of Popular Music).

Due to the implicit need in art and in training in general to continually expand knowledge, the Mousikê Association seeks alternatives to the limitations of our insularity. With absolute confidence in the current Canarian musical union, in addition to local actions, Mousikê delves into a social and global movement, finding the perfect instrument for it in social networks. So much so that only your YouTube channel It has more than 13,200 subscribers in the world and brings together more than 1,100,000 views with more than 200,000 hours of viewing in the more than two hundred and fifty full and free masterclasses taught by artists with local, national and international careers who have been developing in these ten years and which, to this day, are still available on the aforementioned channel.
