SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Today, Friday, the General Director of Public Function of the Government of the Canary Islands, Francisco Rodríguez, informed the Investigative Court on duty in Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the facts that have become known after making the decision to provisionally suspend the selective tests. for Administrative positions in the Autonomous Community.

This decision to suspend the selection process, whose first test was held on October 1, was made when the General Directorate of Public Function learned that only 9 of the more than 4,000 people who took the exam passed and that the top two qualifications were obtained by two people allegedly related by relationship and affinity with the previous general director, Águeda Márquez.

“We opened a prior information period, in order to be able to gather as much information as possible to resolve the issues raised regarding the exercise carried out, but the investigative powers of this Public Administration are seriously limited, in accordance with the Law,” explained Francisco Rodríguez. . “That is why we have made the decision to inform the investigating court of the procedure and result of the selective test so that it can initiate proceedings if it considers that there are sufficient indications of irregularities,” he added.

In the internal investigation initiated these days by the Public Function, it has been proven that Águeda Márquez did not inhibit herself from the selection process for the positions of the Administrative body (Group C, subgroup C1) despite the fact that two people who were allegedly related were participating in the opposition. of kinship, which are those that have obtained the highest score in the October 1 exam, with a 7.5 and a 7.4. It should be noted that she was the former general director in charge of appointing the evidence qualifying tribunal, through a resolution signed on May 17, 2023.

It has also been confirmed that, in a previous selective process for entry into the Corps of Technical Assistants, Library Auxiliary Scale, Archives and Documentation Centers, Águeda Márquez signed a resolution, dated April 19, 2023, in which appoints the career civil servant personnel who passed the aforementioned selection process, among whom are the aforementioned people.

All the information collected has been communicated today, Friday, to the investigating court and it will now be the administration of justice that, if appropriate, will take charge of the investigation.
