SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife will increase aid to the Canarian wrestling clubs on the island, as promised by the Sports Minister of the island corporation, Yolanda Moliné, in a meeting held last Tuesday at the request of the clubs and federation in the Pavilion of Sports of Tenerife Santiago Martín and attended by a wide representation of this sporting discipline.

Yolanda Moliné assures in a note that in the next Cabildo budgets the amounts allocated to Lucha Canaria will be increased and the line of subsidies will be improved in a “consensus” with the clubs.

The Sports Minister added that in the area “there is a special sensitivity with native sports and, especially, with Canarian wrestling, as it is an Asset of Cultural Interest and Cultural Heritage.”

The Cabildo of Tenerife supports Canarian wrestling from different areas, in which the grassroots categories also participate, to the sponsorship of different competitions, a sport that brings together some 1,400 athletes of all categories and who deserve adequate treatment.

Tenerife has 6 First Category clubs and 13 Third Category clubs and many of the entities have basic schools.
