PINOLETE CRAFTS PARTY | New dates for the Pinolere craft fair: next weekend

The organizers of one of the largest craft fairs in Canary Islandsthat of Pinolere from La Orotava, they already have new dates for this year’s edition after being postponed last weekend as a result of the reactivation of the fire in the Forest Crown Tenerife. The intention is to celebrate next weekend, from Friday to Sunday, at the expense of what may happen with a fire that continues to experience reactivations, especially in the north of Tenerife.

In accordance with the new calendar, the opening ceremony by the regional, island and local authorities will take place next Friday and subsequently the presentation of the XX Villa de La Orotava Crafts and Heritage Award will be held, which this year the local institution grants to the timplero Francisco Fariña Izquierdo, and the Honorary Drivers 2023, which in this edition fall to the Canaragua company with the business modality, Parranda Chaboco for the institutional modality and Antonia María Bethencourt Díaz Toñi in the individual modality.

The organizers maintain the plan to make a free bus service available to the public, frequently every hour from the center of the town, specifically from Sor Soledad Cobián Avenue. By purchasing the ticket at this point, for 2.5 euros, you can access the bus. The service will be between 10:00 and 19:00.

This year Pinolere has 45 artisan gastronomy companies and 160 stalls of artisans from all over the Canary Islands who will show and market their creations and authentic works of art for three days. There will also be multiple activities for all audiences. The extensive program includes exhibitions, music, tributes, commented tastings, gastronomic activities and educational workshops. On Friday the exhibitions Crónicas del Timple, Constructores de timple de Lanzarote, by researcher Daniel Morales, will be inaugurated; and Ancestors, by Agael Lion. Pedro Izquierdo’s private collection of timples will also be presented. Luthier David Sánchez León will present his project El Imaginario with a small performance. The pages will come to life through the instruments on display.

Meeting on sustainability and tourism

The Town of La Orotava will host the first Cittaslow training sessions on the 16th. They will take place starting at 7:00 p.m. in the noble hall of the town hall and will focus on sustainability and tourism, raising the perspective of advocating for tourism with the philosophy of the cittaslow movement. This first edition will feature the president of Cittaslow in Spain, Albert Costa; Joan Rodríguez de la Sierra, specialist in tourism leisure management, and Juanjo Martín, journalist and disseminator.

At the end of the talks there will be a round table. Admission is free, but due to capacity control, it is advisable to register by email turismo@villadelaorotava.org. The international CittaSlow seal brings together cities that are committed to quality of life. La Orotava has been part of this network since 2018. It is the only municipality in the Canary Islands with this distinction. |
