TENERIFE FIRE BREAKING NEWS | The Tenerife fire drops in level and all the neighbors return to their homes

Juan Acosta, mayor of the municipality of Saint Ursula, one of the most affected by the reactivation of the August fire in Tenerife, informed the evicted neighbors this Friday morning that they can return home. The mayor has personally informed the neighbors that they are relocated to the center designated for them after having to leave their homes last Wednesday afternoon.

For their part, the neighbors of The Orotavaabout 200 evicted people, will also be able to return to their homes starting at 1:00 p.m.

“When I say that (the fire is going down) it doesn’t mean that the media is leaving, only the UME (Military Emergency Unit) is going to leave because the level is going to go down. The firefighters are going to continue working as long as the high temperatures last,” the mayor of the north explained to them.

Acosta had words of gratitude towards his neighbors, whom he thanked for their patience and empathy after spending a few days evicted. From 1:00 p.m. the neighbors will return home.

The mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares, announced that the Pinolere Craft Fairone of the most famous of Canary Islands and which was scheduled to be held this weekend, has been suspended by order of the Technical Directorate of the tasks of extinguishing the current fire. According to Linares, the intention of the City Council and the organizers is for the aforementioned exhibition to take place on the weekend between October 13 and 15.

And the consistory of Santa Úrsula decided to suspend the patron saint festivities of the municipality, whose proclamation was scheduled for this Friday as the official start of the events. For now, there is no new celebration date.

Last night

“Quiet” night as far as the fire is concerned. The fire that started in Santa Úrsula and La Orotava, within the perimeter of the last forest fire of the month of August, remains active and under the work of extinguishing means.

During the day they will intervene on the ground 120 ground troops and up to nine helicopters They will take off their propellers to work from the air against the flames. Some flames fanned by the high temperatures we are experiencing and low humidity.
