He Government of the Canary Islandsthrough the General Directorate of Emergencies, has declared the alert situation due to maximum temperatures in Gran Canaria and Tenerife starting at 10:30 a.m. this Friday, so that all the islands remain in a pre-alert situation.
This decision has been taken taking into account the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, and in application of the PSpecific Emergency Lan Canary Islands due to Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
In a pre-alert situation it is estimated that there is no meteorological risk for the general populationalthough yes for some specific activity or highly vulnerable location.
It maintains the notice to the councilstown councils and other institutions so that its emergency personnel continue to be prepared, in the event of a possible change in the meteorological phenomenon, until the General Directorate of Emergencies terminates the situation declared based on the PEFMA.
The weather forecast points to a slight drop in temperatures in interior areas. However, 34 degrees Celsius may be reached or exceeded in the medians and southern and western slopes of the islands.
Minimum temperatures will remain unusually high for the time of year, with generalized values between 20 and 25 degrees, except in the peaks of Tenerife and The Palm.
