The extension of the bike lane in the capital of Tenerife from the port-city building to the María Jiménez neighborhood was one of the topics addressed at the recent meeting of the Port-City Commission of Santa Cruz of Tenerifewhich resumed its work meetings last Thursday, after more than a year and a half without doing so and with the priority objective of advancing jointly in the resolution of an important relationship of pending issues, of mutual interest for both entities and therefore for the citizens santacrucera.

Therefore, this meeting was the first under the shared ownership of Pedro Suárez, president of Puertos de Tenerife, and José Manuel Bermúdez, mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, who showed their satisfaction at recovering these meetings. And the thing is that, after the last meeting of this Commission, which dates back to January 25, 2022, its members, politicians and technicians, had more than a dozen issues pending to negotiate and move forward regarding non-port public spaces and initiatives to offer cultural alternatives from the port area.

Going into detail, An agreement was reached for the transfer to the City Council of some roads for public use that are not used for port traffic and that link different neighborhoods of the municipality., in addition to the Miguel Pintor school. In this regard, the mayor expressed his commitment at said reception under the precepts that they be delivered in perfect conditions and with the possibility of launching projects, such as the bike lane, to which he also received the commitment of Pedro Suárez to study the alternatives to the regard. The City Council also requested areas that can be used as parking, as well as for holding events.

Precisely the construction of the bike lane between the port-city building and the María Jiménez neighborhood was another of the topics discussed and, in basic terms, after the delivery by the City Council of said project between the Puerto-Ciudad building and Valleseco, the Puerto is already working on its supervision to issue a feasibility report and proceed as soon as possible to the availability of land in its first section that reaches the former Musa facilities.

The financing of the execution of the Link Dock project through an inter-administrative agreement was another of the aspects discussed, agreeing to work in parallel, on the one hand, to adhere as many administrations as possible to said signature and, on the other, to move forward with the Management of Urban planning in the urban feasibility of the presented project.

The technicians of both entities also presented the possibility of giving greater cultural use to the port plot where the Christmas Concert is celebrated each year, with a program of annual events of interest to the city.
Likewise, Suárez and Bermúdez trusted that “this Commission will make the port and the city stronger” and committed to “guarantee a periodicity that allows pending issues to be resolved.”
