SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Security Councilor of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Miranda, announced this Friday that the reactivation of the Tenerife forest fire in Santa Úrsula and La Orotava goes to emergency level 1, in such a way that the coordination passes to the Cabildo and the EMU troops.

At the press conference to report on the evolution of the fire, he also announced that the 3,200 people who were evicted from the neighborhoods of La Corujera and Pino Alto will be able to return to their homes, in coordination with the city councils, starting at 1:00 p.m. hours.

Miranda has said that the night has been “quite calm”, with only “small outbreaks”, and it has been possible to verify, thanks to the drones, that there are hot spots but they can be controlled. “Yesterday there was a tense calm and today the situation is calmer, we are more optimistic,” she indicated.

The counselor has highlighted the work and coordination of the administrations “all in one” and has thanked the work of the fire extinguishing means and the “civic behavior” of those affected during the evictions.

The president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, has pointed out that the night “was relatively calm” and with “minor” reactivations, but she has warned that “the situation continues to be complicated” due to the strength of the hillside wind and that the temperatures They will exceed 32ºC during the next few days.

He has recognized the “unusual” nature of this heat wave in the month of October and has indicated that the eight helicopters will continue working and a team of 110 people with members of Brifor, firefighters, and EIRIF of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Environment.

Regarding the family that has lost its home in Santa Úrsula, devastated by fire, it has indicated that it is already relocated and with its basic needs covered – including the transportation of the minor to the IES – and with the help of the Government of the Canary Islands works so that they soon have a home for rent in the municipality.

The director of the fire extinguishing service, Pedro Martínez, pointed out that last night they were “concerned” about the evolution of the wind but in the end the night was “calm” and with few reactivations.

He pointed out that within the burned area and near the perimeter there are many hot spots which forces them to “be very attentive” and “reinforce” the equipment because there is fire in the underground and at any moment it can come out and cause a stir.

In addition, he has once again insisted that the extinction will take time because the interior “continues to heat up” hence we have to wait for winter and the first rains.
