SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 6 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife has deployed this Friday an extinction operation with 93 ground troops between forestry brigades of the Cabildo (BRIFOR), BRIF La Palma, EIRIF of the Government of the Canary Islands and Firefighters of the Tenerife Consortium, as well as eight helicopters, which carried out different discharges to cool and consolidate hot spots, under the coordination of the Civil Guard helicopter.

The areas in which they have mainly acted today are La Hornaca (Tacoronte) and Cruz de La Lajita, between Santa Úrsula and La Orotava, where different discharges were carried out by helicopters.

Likewise, ground forces have been working in different areas to eliminate hot spots.

During the night, a surveillance and control operation will be maintained in the main areas where the reactivations have occurred, states a note from the corporation.

On this Friday morning, the emergency was lowered to level 1 and the 3,000 people who had been evicted last Wednesday from Santa Úrsula and the 200 from La Orotava were authorized to return to their homes.

Since Tuesday, the Cabildo has activated grade 1 measures for the prevention of forest fires, taking into account the meteorological circumstances and the alert declaration decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands on the island of Tenerife.

Specifically, it is prohibited to make fires outdoors, whether barbecues, bonfires, stoves or gas stoves and the use of any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks (brush cutters, welding equipment or cutting radials) is suspended and prohibits the use of any pyrotechnic material in risk areas.

The Cabildo recommends not accessing or remaining in the forest areas of the island for the duration of the alert and taking extreme precautions throughout the island territory with any activity that could generate fires (tobacco, use of generator sets, electrical and pyrotechnic material ).

The restrictions corresponding to grade 1 of forest fire prevention will remain active until the alert situation ends.
