2,400 evacuated due to the reactivation of the Tenerife fire in Santa Úrsula

The reactivation of fire of Tenerife in the heights of Santa Úrsula and La Orotava forces evacuate 2,600 people between the upper area of ​​La Corujera towards Guanche and Pino Alto streets, according to sources from the local Corporation. The fire is now stabilized, but those affected are still outside their homes.

The City Council has enabled the Canarian wrestling arena to offer supplies to those affected. For now, in said venue There are 50 people.

The evacuated animals, for their part, have been transferred to the warehouse that was already used for this purpose in the last August fire.

The Santa Úrsula City Council and the Spanish Red Cross have set up a warehouse, next to the municipal land, with 150 beds, in case it is necessary for some of the affected residents to spend the night outside their homes.

Eight reactivations

Since this Tuesday there have been eight reactivations of the fire that started on August 15, which has affected Las Charquitas (two reactivations), in Santa Úrsula; La Hornaca, in Tacoronte, the La Vica area, in La Matanza de Acentejo; El Carril del Polvo, upper part of Ravelo, in El Sauzal (twice); Pino Alto, between La Orotava and Santa Úrsula, and Los Arroyos, in La Orotava.

He Tenerife Council recommends that the population take extreme precautions before new reactivations of the fire and, as far as possible, avoid going to the mountains. Thus, the Corporation reports that grade 1 measures for fire prevention remain activated, so it is prohibited to light fires outdoors, the use of pyrotechnic material in risk areas, as well as any type of machinery or tool that can project sparks.

Besides, The Santa Úrsula City Council recommends that the population not go out on the street due to the poor air quality caused by the reactivation of the forest fire in the upper area of ​​the municipality.
