Fire outbreak in the north of Tenerife, between Santa Úrsula and La Orotava

The Cabildo of Tenerife reported this Wednesday morning that a fire outbreak has been declared in a mountain between the municipalities of Santa Úrsula and La Orotava, in the north of the island.

This is a different focus than the one that began this Tuesday in La Matanza, which is a fire reactivation which was declared on August 15 in Arafo and extended to more than 14,000 hectares and 10 municipalities. This fire is located within the perimeter of said fire.

The attempt, however, is outside that perimeter, specifically in the Pino Alto area. The Cabildo has explained that it is a steep area and difficult to access.

The Cabildo adds that aerial means are already activated to work in the area.

The island, like the entire western province and Gran Canaria, is on alert for fire risk due to high temperatures. In addition, the State Meteorological Agency has also activated the yellow warnings for heat on the islandespecially in the north and south, east and west slopes, as well as in the metropolitan area, where maximums of 34 degrees are expected.
