The Minister of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, Nieves Lady Barreto, announced this Tuesday that the Government has agreed to establish the necessary measures to make face-to-face care effective in the autonomous administration, in its organizations, companies and entities. dependents, without the need for an appointment, and the opening of records every business day of the year starting next Monday.
Nieves Lady Barreto was accompanied at the press conference by the Deputy Minister of Administrations and Transparency, Antonio Llorens, and the General Director of Modernization and Quality of Public Services, Juana María Reyes.
“We return to citizens the full exercise of a right that was limited and we bring the administration of the autonomous community closer to the people, which is one of the objectives of this Government,” said the counselor, who also urged the rest of the administrations, local and islands, who have not yet done so, to implement this measure.
This puts an end to the limiting measures that remained in force due to Covid-19, for the protection of health and the prevention of the spread of the pandemic, which had already been suspended by Government agreement in March 2022, but which had not been undertaken in a year and a half and which affected access to citizen services and registry offices.
In this sense, the counselor reported that the right of citizens to face-to-face care is guaranteed, without requiring an appointment.
Telephone attention and prior appointments for face-to-face care will be voluntary and as an improvement in the offer of services to the population, for which the necessary organizational mechanisms will be established to avoid unnecessary delays in face-to-face care, limiting the number of people. attended by appointment, if necessary, include a note from the Ministry.
In addition, the opening of public administration registries is established every business day, with an operating schedule of nine to fourteen hours, except during the months of July, August and September, when hours will be from nine to thirteen hours.
On December 24 and 31, only the records of the Canary Islands Citizen Information and Attention Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will remain open.
In the operation of the registries, it will be taken into account that all the autonomous administration bodies, as well as the public law entities and autonomous organizations linked or dependent on it, will accept the writings or communications that are presented or received addressed to any unit. own administrative body or to any of the administrative bodies of the General Administration of the State, of other autonomous communities, and of the Local Administration Entities and vice versa.
When accessing public buildings, personal searches derived from the need to carry out the pertinent traces in the event of Covid outbreak control will no longer be carried out, without prejudice to the security measures that are established.
Thus, the General Technical Secretariats of the different departments of the Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, and the public law entities and linked or dependent autonomous organizations, will be responsible for establishing the organizational mechanisms necessary to guarantee these rights.
