Puertos de Tenerife “categorically” denies an alleged favorable treatment in the construction of the cruise terminal

The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has “categorically” denied the recent statements by a spokesperson for Construcciones Dique del Este SAconcessionaire of Marina Santa Cruz, in which he points to the port organization as a possible author of “favorable treatment” to the concessionaire of the cruise terminal of the capital’s port, based on what he considers “speed” in the execution of said project compared to that of those represented.

In response to these statements, in which it also alleges alleged difficulties in the implementation of its project, specifically the design and execution of the new marina building according to the Herzog & De Meuron project, Puertos de Tenerife makes it clear that these are clearly differentiated assumptions. and therefore with non-comparable resolution periods.

Puertos explains that the concession granted in 2018 to the service provider of the Tenerife Cruise Terminal corresponds to the occupation and operation of a building already built years before, unlike Construcciones Dique del Este, which must draft the project and subsequently build the marina services building, according to the criteria of the Herzog & De Meuron project.

In this regard, Puertos de Tenerife recalls that Construcciones Dique del Este SA has until the 9th of this month of October to present in detail the building proposal initially selected by the Technical Assessment Commission for said area of the Link Dock.

The entity remembers that this Commission is made up not only of the Ports of Tenerife but also of representatives of the Island Council and the Santa Cruz City Council, who determine whether or not the initiatives presented by Construcciones Dique del Este comply with the landscape and architectural quality of Herzog & De Meuron for the zone.

However, Puertos adds, in compliance with the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), it will soon send Construcciones Dique del Este SA the requested information on various aspects related to the construction of the Tenerife Cruise Terminal. always respecting the limitations established by Law 19/2013, of December 9, on transparency, access to public information and good governance.
