SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will extend the yellow level warning (risk) to La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro starting tomorrow, Sunday, which today, Saturday, already affects the rest of the islands of the archipelago due to an episode of high temperatures and the presence of haze at altitude in the western province, affecting the surface in the eastern province.

According to the Aemet prediction, today, Saturday, there will be intervals of medium and high clouds and it is not ruled out that during the afternoon there may be an occasional storm on the peaks of Tenerife. There will also be intervals of low cloudiness in the late hours in the north of the most prominent islands, as well as the presence of haze at altitude that will affect the surface in the easternmost islands, extending to Gran Canaria during the afternoon.

Temperatures will rise, which will be slight on the coast and may be locally noticeable in inland areas. The wind will generally blow weakly, from the northeast on the coasts and from the east in the midlands. In the central peaks of Tenerife it will blow with a strong southerly component, tending to moderate during the morning.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the yellow warning due to haze will remain in place in the eastern province and will be extended to all of the western islands, and there will also be maximum temperatures that may locally reach 34 degrees in the southern midlands of Gran Canaria.

Therefore, tomorrow there will be intervals of high clouds, tending towards slightly cloudy skies from west to east of the archipelago. On the northern coasts of the most prominent islands, intervals of low clouds are expected in the early morning and late hours of the day, as well as haze on the eastern islands and Tenerife, which will extend to the rest of the islands.

Temperatures will remain unchanged or rise slightly, more pronounced in interior areas of the mountainous islands. The maximum temperatures may locally reach 34 degrees in the southern midlands of Gran Canaria and 30-32 degrees in inland areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, and southern slopes of Tenerife.

The wind will blow light to moderate from the northeast on the coasts. In the midlands and summits, generally weak with a predominance of the eastern and southern components.
