The president of Ashotel, Jorge Marichal, considers the commitment “satisfactory” and assures that at that meeting, in which the Canarian Minister of Public Works, Sebastián Franquis, and the president of the Tenerife Council, were also present, Pedro Martin, the drafting of “sufficiently specific and broad bases was agreed to have a good project and start of works before the end of the DORA in 2026”, said Marichal. He stressed that the Secretary of State’s commitment is that “the amounts will be available as soon as possible.”

Jorge Marichal considers that «now what is missing is to officially materialize the commitment acquired in Tenerife by the State in an official document as soon as possible ». Something to which Pardo de Vera promised in a new meeting in Madrid, which will be attended by the president of the Tenerife Council, Pedro Martín, “who has led this demand from Tenerife society,” says Ashotel in a statement.

The meeting with the Secretary of State for Transport also included the participation of representatives of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber of Commerce, CEOE Tenerife, Asinca, Femete, Apeica, Fepeco, the Círculo de Empresarios del Sur de Tenerife (CEST) and the Forum of Friends of the South of Tenerife (FAST). All these organizations, together with Ashotel, have been very active in recent years to claim a terminal that meets the real need for a first-rate destination such as Tenerife.

In the subsequent press conference, Pardo de Vera announced the commitment to increase to the necessary amount the 3.4 million that AENA contemplates in its investment plan (DORA) 2022-2026 to draw up the project of the new terminal, whose design to be defined. However, he did not ensure that the work begins before 2026.
