The Arona Government group, formed by the Popular Party, the Canarian Coalition and Más Por Arona, highlighted yesterday that, after the first 100 days at the head of the City Council, the foundations have been laid for the implementation of a governance plan until 2027.

The mayor, Fátima Lemes (PP), and the first and second deputy mayors, Clari Pérez (CC) and Dácil León (MxA), appeared to report on their first three months of management in the southern council, a period that the Councilors described as “very positive” towards the objective of Arona “growing, improving and being a benchmark municipality”, in the words of the councilor.

“We want to provide solutions, not get bogged down in the past,” Lemes emphasized, after acknowledging that they have found a City Council in a “complicated” situation, above all, he said, due to budgetary limitations and lack of personnel. After highlighting that the tripartite shares the objectives of “improving the lives of citizens and recovering Arona’s leadership,” Fátima Lemes underlined the “teamwork” of the government group, “alert and motivated,” of which she feels “ happy, proud and satisfied” and warned that “differences make us stronger.”

Clari Pérez (CC) expressed himself in similar terms. “We look for solutions, not excuses, because people are tired of political brawls,” she said, “in the face of a diverse and complex reality.” Regarding the health of the government alliance, she also wanted to clear up doubts: “We are not rivals, we are colleagues who have signed an agreement, and we are very clear about that.”

RECOVER TRUST

For his part, Dácil León (MxA) pointed out that the change in the government team after the last elections has generated “excitement” in the street, “because there is a change” and highlighted that one of the primary objectives is to recover the trust in political management “not only by neighbors, but also by businessmen and investors.”

Lemes, Pérez and León, who appeared supported by the councilors who make up the government group, reviewed the situation and the challenges facing the municipality with the largest population in the South. In terms of urban planning, they highlighted, among the priorities, the “urgent review and approval” of the General Plan for the “social, economic and social growth” of the municipality, as well as continuing with the processing and reception of the partial plans of El Mojón and Cho Parque La Reina, in addition to those of Ten-Bel and La Camella Baja.

Regarding social services, they indicated that in these 100 days meetings have been held with social workers by geographical areas, also with those who carry out their work in the minors department, with administrative and technical staff and with users and monitors of the Diversity Center Functional of El Mojón. Likewise, a prior diagnosis has been carried out by the Board of Social Services, the Home Help area has been reorganized and the inventory has been prepared in the Disability area.

BUDGETS

In terms of Economy and Finance, work is being done on the preparation of the new budgets. PP, CC and MxA described the updating of Arona’s accounts as “vital”, because “the lack of budgets appropriate to the current reality of the municipality prevents responding to the needs of the population, while causing greater uncertainty and restricting investment possibilities.

The representatives of the local Executive recognized the seriousness of the housing and mobility problems (especially around the port of Los Cristianos) and, in terms of security, highlighted the actions related to Personal Mobility Vehicles and kiosks. of illegal sales of excursions or counterfeits.
