SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, contemporary art center of the Cabildo de Tenerife, presented this Thursday its two new exhibitions, ‘Act I: Eternal Adolescence’, by the artist Álvaro Urbano, and ‘Insolación’, curated by Gilberto González.
The Minister of Culture and Museums of Tenerife, José Carlos Acha; the artistic director of TEA, Gilberto González; and the artist Álvaro Urbano, were in charge of publicizing these new samples that maintain a dialogue around the idea of ruin.
“It is a huge pleasure and a fortune that this is the first event that I present at TEA,” Acha acknowledged in the presentation of these two exhibition proposals that are articulated in a careful dialogue between diverse disciplines: music, painting, sculpture and video.
In addition to this, the counselor showed his special gratitude to the Madrid creator Álvaro Urbano and to the public entities and private collectors who have collaborated on these projects, in which there is work by artists such as Sofía Bassi, José Martín, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz, Ester Partegàs, Raimond Chaves, Gilda Mantilla or Álvaro Urbano.
The exhibitions open this Friday, at 6:30 p.m., and can be visited for free, from Tuesday to Sunday and holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
‘Act I: Eternal Adolescence’ will be open until February 18, 2024, while ‘Sunstroke’ will close on February 25, 2024.
The exhibitions, which include works from the TEA Collection, also include loans from the Atlantic Center of Modern Art (CAAM), the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts and the heirs of Sofía Bassi.
For his part, Gilberto González explained that in this dialogue that both exhibitions maintain, the aim is to dissect the concept widely accepted in the historical narrative between destruction and rebirth.
“The idea that underlies both exhibitions is ruin, to what extent our world is a constant ruin that we inhabit,” explained the artistic director of TEA, who also pointed out that they talk about “the impossibility of understanding that the end occurs.” , which is descending into the vital experience of each one of us”.
Regarding ‘Act I: Eternal Adolescence’, he indicated that “Álvaro Urbano introduces the viewer to a timeless dream with the recreation of the Gazmira, a hotel that began to be built in the late 1950s on the mountain of Tenisca (La Palma). that was never finished.”
In addition, the exhibition will have a publication in which Chus Martínez, Magalí Arriola and José Esparza Chong Cuy, among others, participate.
Álvaro Urbano, an artist who works in different disciplines such as sculpture, installation, photography and architecture, acknowledged being “extremely grateful to TEA for the desire to dream” as well as to his team and the composer of the musical piece of his work. , Fa Maria.
“The trip has been very nice. Thank you,” said the creator whose works are characterized by exploring themes such as architecture, urban planning and collective memory.
