SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The City Council has proceeded today, Thursday, September 28, to open the El Médano beach (central beach) and Leocadio Machado beach after indicating the results of the counter-analysis that the quality of the water is suitable for bathing, when the indices are located of enterococci below the permitted limits in both parts of the coast.
The City Council reports that only these two bathing areas exceeded the levels permitted for bathing, which is why bathing was temporarily prohibited yesterday, in addition to raising the red flag. This measure was taken to guarantee the safety of bathers, pending the results of the samples taken yesterday, Wednesday, which today have confirmed the good quality of the water.
The City Council wanted to remember that Granadilla de Abona is one of the few municipalities in the Canary Islands that carries out analyzes twice a week, taking samples from a total of 10 beaches, which guarantees exhaustive knowledge of the quality of the coastal water. The beaches covered by this service are: Cuevas del Trigo, Ensenada Pelada, La Jaquita, El Cabezo, Playa Chica, central beach of El Médano, Leocadio Machado, La Tejita, El Chinchorro and Playa Grande de Los Abrigos.
