An impressive photograph of Tenerife is chosen as one of the “favorite corners” of Spain

An image of Bajamar in La Laguna, taken by Milagros N. De Románhas obtained the fifth prize, worth 100 euros, in the contest ‘My Favorite Corner’. This is a national photography contest on Instagram for cultural and tourism promotion that has received more than 3,000 images from all over the national territory. The winners have been decided by a jury made up of a commission of professional tourism agents from across the country, a commission of photography professionals, and an internal commission from the organization of the event itself. The organization of the event has revealed the winners on September 27, 2023, World Tourism Day.

About her photography in La Laguna, Milagros N. De Román He explained that Bajamar “is a place that has a special charm within the municipality of La Laguna. Not only for being next to the sea, with the breeze that impregnates you with the smell of salt and algae, but for its wonderful sunsets that say goodbye to the day with a very special light.

The author of the image has also recommended “taking a swim in the pools and then watching the sun fall on the horizon taking a quiet walk, or simply sitting in front of the sea listening to the rumble of the waves while the sun disappears and the “The sky changes color, it is one of those things that, without having a monetary cost, enriches the soul.”

In addition, the contest has awarded a second prize valued at 50 euros to a photograph of the dunes of Maspalomas under the Milky Way, taken by Kenneth Cabrera.

In this edition, the following municipalities have had a local contest, with their own jury, call and prizes: Cambrils (Tarragona), Gorbeia (Álava and Vizcaya), La Laguna (Tenerife), L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), La Muela (Zaragoza), Luarca-Valdés (Asturias), Santurtzi (Vizcaya) and Sant Antoni de Portmany (Ibiza). Its participants have opted for prizes both in their respective local events and in the initiative’s national call.

More than 3,000 participants

Samuel Rodríguez, responsible for the ‘My Favorite Corner’ contest, explained that «Spain has so many special corners that the choice has been truly difficult. Making the first selection by Autonomous Communities was already an arduous task, since there were more than 3,000 participants.

«However, the most difficult thing is going to be deciding where I will go on my next trip, since the contest has given me many good ideas of places to visit. And that is the objective of ‘My Favorite Corner’: to show places that many people may not know about as an option for their next getaway or vacation break.

Samuel Rodríguez added that “the organizers of the event are very satisfied with the reception and participation of this edition. Very soon we will announce the rules for the next one, which will take place between the end of 2023 and much of 2024. We encourage everyone to show their favorite corners through the contest so that many other people are surprised with the treasures that we can enjoy at throughout the entire country.
