Titsa hires 25 drivers to reinforce the lines with the highest demand

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the company Titsa, has hired 25 drivers who will reinforce the most saturated lines at times of maximum influx in both the north and south of the island.

These new drivers have already passed the medical examinations and are developing the training process that lasts approximately one month. Training consists of acquiring knowledge of the lines en route; Customer Support; vehicle typology; Payment Methods; prevention of occupational hazards; among others.

The Minister of Mobility, Eulalia García, explained that this is “a measure that will allow the lines of the public transport company to be reinforced, which is joined by the renewal of the fleet of vehicles currently in service.”

Precisely, the hiring of the new drivers, to which 67 more will be added before the end of this year, occurs after the approval of the multi-year expense in favor of Titsa for the financing of the purchase of 247 buses for an amount of 88,261. 500 euros. These vehicles, of which 70% are hybrids, will arrive between 2024 and 2025 and will allow the renewal of the fleet that is more than 10 years old and the replacement of leased vehicles.

Another measure that will be implemented in the month of October will be free public transportation, both by bus and tram, for those travelers who validate a total of 10 trips. Until now, the minimum cancellations were 15, so this initiative makes this requirement more flexible so that more users can use public transport for free.

The tickets for this free ticket will continue to be the Canary Resident Bonus, Youth Subscription, Senior Subscription and Subscription for People with Disabilities, and the Cabildo will assume the cost of this measure entirely with its own funds.

All these measures join those that have already been implemented by the Island Corporation recently, such as reinforcing line 1 of Metrotenerife with a new tram, and limiting the circulation of waste trucks on the two highways, eliminating 60 trips in the time slots with the greatest traffic congestion between 05:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
