On Tuesday, October 31, the historic center of La Laguna hosts the celebration of a new edition of the Skull Island Zombie Walka fun event aimed at audiences of all ages organized by the Canary Islands Calavera Island Fantastic Film Festival Ciudad De La Laguna with the sponsorship of the municipal corporation and the Culture area of ​​the city council. The popular actor and comedian Aaron Gomez will repeat as master of ceremonies of this zombie meeting with animation, in which the band will also participate Create Tejina Musical Union and Renzzo The Selector.

As part of All Saints’ Eve, Halloween, the Plaza del Adelantado will host the free makeup tents that will open to the public starting at 5:00 p.m. to perform as the classic zombies, or “living dead” popularized by cinema, television, comics and fantasy literature to anyone who wants to participate in the fourth edition of the Skull Island Zombie Walk. They can also come dressed in costume and made up from home. This will be the starting point of the “zombie march”, which will start at 8:00 p.m. and will consist of the route of all the participants in the direction of Plaza de la Concepción through Obispo Rey Redondo Street and back to the starting point. start on Herradores street. Once the parade is over, the most dedicated participants will be rewarded on the stage displayed in the Plaza del Adelantado.

The first “official zombie walk” was held in Sacramento (California), in August 2001. Currently, there are numerous cities around the world that celebrate events of this type every year, including the Catalan town of Sitges, to mark of its famous International Fantastic Film Festival. The first installments of the Skull Island Zombie Walk took place in 2018 and 2019 and the event returned after the pandemic in 2022 with great success to return this year, for Halloween, within the program of parallel activities of the seventh edition of the Skull Island Festival of Fantastic Cinema of the Canary Islands Ciudad de La Laguna, which will take place from November 10 to 19.

Organized by the Cultural Association Charlas de Cine, the Isla Calavera Cultural Association, Multicines Tenerife and the specialized publication TumbaAbierta.com, with the sponsorship of the La Laguna City Council, through the Department of Culture, the Cabildo of Tenerife, Promotur, Tourism of the Canary Islands of the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Islands Latitude of Life, the Canary Islands advance with Europe; the Canary Institute of Cultural Development, Canary Islands Film and Tenerife Film Commission; and the collaboration of the University of La Laguna, among other public and private entities, the Ciudad de La Laguna Isla Calavera Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival was born in 2017 and in its six years of history it has achieved a significant national impact and is already considered as one of the five most relevant fantasy film festivals in the country.

At the international level it has also become one of the events to take into account, thanks to the participation of such relevant figures as Belén Rueda, John Landis, Deborah Nadoolman, Sarah Douglas, Rick Baker, Caroline Munro, David Naughton, Jack Taylor , Enzo G. Castellari, Mick Garris, Neil Marshall, Álex de la Iglesia, Nicholas Rowe, Colin Arthur or Lamberto Bava. Other guests who have visited Tenerife as part of the Isla Calavera Festival and who have put the event on the map of cinematographic meetings are Paco Plaza, Carolina Bang, Paco Cabezas, Víctor Matellano, Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Eugenio Mira, Charlotte Kirk or Lola Dueñas, among others.
