Los Realejos gives fruit trees to unemployed people

The First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Commerce, Adolfo González (PP), who accompanied Alexis Hernández yesterday in the delivery of the fruit trees, stressed that “the acquisition of the fruit and seed varieties It is carried out in specialized companies of the sector based in the municipality, which reverts to investment in the locality itself».

«This initiative to support unemployed people so that they can access a new economic activity that could become a way of life, has other positive effects: the foment of land reclamation for cultivation, self-sufficiency, conservation of the agricultural and rural landscape of the municipality, as well as uses and customs and crop species typical of this environment “, as highlighted by the mayor of the town, Manuel Domínguez (PP).

The Consistory has allocated 5,000 euros to the acquisition and distribution of 108 lemon trees, 129 avocado trees, 12 orange trees, 5 apple trees and 4 plum trees.

«Many times we talk about the defense of the primary sector and that recovering the field can be an economic way out for many families, but we are also aware of the difficulties involved in starting this activity, which requires costs in preparing the land and acquisition of seeds, something that in this way we are helping to facilitate “, says the president of Los Realejos.

Among the requirements to qualify for these grants is that of being a resident in The Realejos, have rustic land of agrarian protection in the locality as owner or as tenant and being unemployed.

Aim Alexis Hernandez that «it is necessary to continue promoting traditional crops of the royal agricultural landscape and the pretty and caste potatoes, various varieties of cereals such as chin wheat, rye and oats, or fruit trees such as avocado, orange, lemon, plum and apple trees are the species that we offer disposition of these farmers and thus guaranteeing the defense and survival of crops typical of these lands ”.
