SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, stated this Friday that the Executive is going to “explore and work” on the idea of ​​the archipelago becoming a sustainable fuel production center (SAF), something that will help is configured as an international ‘hub’.

“It is a magnificent idea, it is going to be explored, it is going to be worked on and it will be good news if we achieve it,” he told journalists, indicating that it is “good news” that the Canary Islands have been exempt for now from taxes and surcharges. of the EU for the use of kerosene and opens the door to producing biofuels because they are “more efficient from an ecological point of view and less polluting”.

According to Clavijo, producing these fuels from the islands can help transoceanic flights refuel in the Canary Islands, a market where air mobility is essential, with more than 15 million tourists a year.
