The Festivals of the Christ of La Laguna They face the second weekend of their program of events with a cast of renowned Canarian artists and comedians. The stage of the Plaza del Cristo will witness numerous performances that will be distributed in the coming days and will begin this Friday, at 9:00 p.m.

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, has reiterated the excellent musical, cultural, sports and entertainment agenda that the program of events for this second weekend has, “which is loaded with a lot of culture and with which also “In addition to enjoying humor or children’s shows, we can also enjoy the different musical proposals it houses,” he points out.

“We have created a varied panel of activities for all audiences and ages that we hope will take over the Plaza del Cristo again over the weekend,” says the Festival Councilor, Dailos González, who has also expressed satisfaction with the passage of the the different celebrations “demonstrating that La Laguna, in addition to being a World Heritage Site, has inhabitants who are a clear example of how to turn any festive occasion into magic,” he concludes.

This Friday, starting at 9:00 p.m., the main stage of Plaza del Cristo will witness the humor and criticism of the Abubukaka quartet with their show ‘The Okavango Delta. Immediately afterwards, the members of Effect Pasillo will take up the baton, one of the most important concerts on the program, who in addition to their greatest hits will present their latest album, Los Reyes del Mambo, in La Laguna.

On Saturday, and within the extensive Heritage Night programming, the singer Pedro Guerra will take the stage of the Christ. The artist born in Güímar, who has been working on a recording project with numerous artists for the last three years and which will be released soon, plans to offer the best of his repertoire to the La Laguna public.

Heritage Night

The sixth edition of Heritage Night, which will be held this Saturday, September 16, will offer a diverse agenda with numerous events, exhibitions and live music, among other proposals divided into sections.

The Heritage Open section features the exceptional nighttime opening of the city’s most representative heritage spaces. The old Convent of Santo Domingo, the Plenary Hall of the City Council and the House of the Captains, the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country, the Hermitage of San Miguel, the old Convent of San Miguel will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. Agustín (IES Cabrera Pinto), the Cathedral and the churches of Santo Domingo and La Concepción. The Santa Clara Monastery and Museum of Sacred Art will also open their doors (until 10:00 p.m.), Lercaro Palace (until 11:00 p.m.) and the Cayetano Gómez Felipe House Museum (until 11:30 p.m.).

The Live Heritage section includes a wide range of cultural activities. Under the title ‘Heritage Treasures’ a series of guided routes are grouped through some of the most representative properties in La Laguna, in three shifts at 6:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., with limited places. The Orfeón La Paz and the Museum of Sacred Art will also have guided tours of their spaces. Other routes will be dedicated to the botanical wealth of the city or the mathematical elements that can be found in the urban fabric of La Laguna. On this theme there will also be an activity with puzzles, games and creative problems in the courtyard of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country.

In the musical section, in addition to the performance by Pedro Guerra, the concert by the Tenerife Youth Philharmonic Orchestra ‘Miguel de Jaubert’ will take place on the Cristo stage, with the show ‘Africa: all the same, all different’ (17: 00 hours). In the old convent of Santo Domingo, the speaker and writer Bosco González gives voice to a selection of poems, accompanied by the timplist Benito Cabrera, the singer Ángel Campos and the guitarist Tomás Fariña in the musical story ‘Verses for a city’ (20 :00 hours).

The agenda of events will also include, among other initiatives, the presentation of the graphic novel ‘Cayetano. Collector of Antiquities’, at the Cayetano Gómez Felipe Museum (6:00 p.m.); the poetic readings at the Poeteca del Estudiante Javier Fernández Quesada park (7:00 p.m.); and the exhibitions ‘Monumenta, 9 Guanche incarnations’, by Yapci Ramos, in the hermitage of San Miguel and ‘Atmosphere and Movement’, a retrospective by Manolo Sánchez in the old Convent of Santo Domingo. The two exhibitions will open their doors until midnight.
