SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Tenerife Cabildo has reactivated the Bicycle Observatory after four years of inactivity with the aim of improving mobility on the island.

This tool facilitates the sharing of the needs of an activity that has more followers on the island every day and coincides with the celebration of the ‘European Mobility Week’.

The Minister of Mobility, Eulalia García, considers in a note that “the recovery of the Bicycle Observatory is very important since from the field of mobility it must be taken into account, according to the latest data available, that more than 50% of “The trips made are intra-municipal and also more than 50% of the total trips do not exceed 7 kilometers, so the bicycle becomes a sustainable personal mobility option to consider.”

Furthermore, he points out, “in line with the objective of the ‘European Mobility Week’, the bicycle is a sustainable mode of transport with benefits for both health and the environment.”

In that sense, he stressed, “we will also have the support of the Natural Environment and Tourism area to develop the actions of the Bicycle Observatory.”

For her part, the Minister of Sports, Yolanda Moliné, considers that it is “important to reactivate the Bicycle Observatory, a transversal project, which aims to become a forum where all social agents in the world of bicycles are present.”

Along these lines, he points out that “there are more and more people who practice this sport, both at an amateur and professional level, and where it is intended that demands, proposals and strategic lines of work be shared to provide solutions to the problems and requests in this important group that has more and more followers”.
