SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Vox parliamentary group has presented a formal complaint to the Parliament Bureau following the decision of the vice president of the Chamber, Ana Oramas (CC), to interrupt the speaking turn of the deputy Paula Jover in the plenary session this Wednesday in a immigration debate.
Jover intervened by asking if the Canary Islands Plan for Immigration and Intercultural Coexistence being worked on by the Government provided for the approval of any protocol or measure to address situations in which coexistence was not peaceful, and gave as an example that in Catalonia there were already more foreign prisoners than nationals or that 45% of the women murdered in Spain so far this year have been at the hands of foreigners, according to data from the Ministry of Equality.
At that moment Oramas, who was leading the session in the absence of the president, Astrid Pérez, urged the deputy to “qualify” her words because they were not “true” and ended up withdrawing her speech when the intervention time was up.
Thus, Vox requests a sanction of warning to the vice president based on articles 9, 83 and 16 of the regulations – which establishes that the use of the word cannot be interrupted, among other things -, article 40 of the Statute of Autonomy and article 20 of the Spanish Constitution.
He also requests a three-minute turn in the next plenary session in defense of the “decorum and dignity” of the parliamentary group given that the spokesperson, Nicasio Galván, was not allowed to intervene and given the lack of response from the Minister of Social Welfare, Candelaria Delgado , to your questions.
The party points out in a statement that the vice president of Parliament has both specific rights and obligations and her actions “not only negatively affected the freedom of expression of a representative, exceeding her powers, but also undermined the dignity of the representative, of the Group VOX Parliamentarian and the parliamentary institution as a whole”.
