La Laguna prepares for the big day of the Christ Festival with the return of the image to its Sanctuary and the fireworks

San Cristóbal de La Laguna is preparing to live this Thursday, September 14, the most important day of the Christ Festival with the solemn transfer of the image from the Cathedral, where it has remained since last Saturday, to the Royal Sanctuary. The day will open at 7:00 a.m. with the ringing of glory in the Cathedral church, continuing, starting at 10:00 a.m., with the civic-military procession from the Town Hall to the Cathedral and the reception of the official representative of King Felipe VI, which this year will be held by the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.

The day will take place with the traditional procession of the return of the image of Christ from the Cathedral, from which it will depart at approximately 12:30 p.m., once the Eucharist is over, to its Sanctuary.

In the afternoon the image will process again through the main streets of the town. The route of this evening procession will be the same as that which has been carried out in recent years. The estimated departure is scheduled for 8:15 p.m., leaving from the Sanctuary in Plaza del Cristo towards the Convent of Santa Clara along Viana Street. From there it will continue to the Santa Catalina Convent through Nava and Grimón.

After leaving the convent, you will go up to the Cathedral along Obispo Rey Redondo Street, from where the ‘tower fires’ will be displayed before continuing on your way to La Concepción. From this point the return will begin taking Ascanio and Nieves streets, then continue along San Agustín street to Tabares de Cala, turn onto Cabrera Pinto street, briefly take Viana street and return to the Sanctuary around 11:00 p.m. hours, closing the day with the traditional cliff fires. The pyrotechnic exhibition will be carried out on this occasion by Hermanos Toste, Pirotecnia Jordi, Pirotecnia Gironina and San Miguel Pirotecnia.
