He Island Water Council Tenerife (Ciatf) puts on public display for approval the project to transport the wastewater produced by the population residing on the coast of Candelaria to the regional treatment plant, located in Lomo de lo Caballos (Arafo). The budget for this action amounts to 11,382,704 euros, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP).

The objective of this project is to renew and expand the Wastewater Pumping Station (EBAR) located in San Blas (near the Basilica) and its delivery pipeline to the site of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Valle de Guimar. An infrastructure that has already been completed but is out of use because it does not receive the necessary flow to put it into operation.

Additionally, taking advantage of the opening of the ditch for the San Blas EBAR discharge pipeline, the project includes the installation of the land outfall of the regional treatment plant, as the layout coincides in large part with that of the pipeline. impulsion, as well as other sections of pipelines provided for by the layout of the impulsion and/or outfall pipeline, as reflected in the report.

It is necessary to build a new building and occupy the adjacent plot for the pumping station.

The wastewater from Punta Larga and the town of Candelaria arrives at the San Blas pumping station.. In the municipality’s sanitation planning, it is planned that those generated in the urban centers of Barranco Hondo, Caletillas, Punta Larga and Igueste will also do so. For this reason, the expansion of the San Blas pumping station is required.

Its complete renovation is planned with the construction of a new building that will occupy the surface of the current EBAR and the adjacent plot located on the North side, so it is necessary to demolish the existing building to expand the existing facilities.

The total length of the flow to the regional treatment plant is 3,010 meters and covers a difference in elevation of 86 meters. The project does not include the section that passes through the Plaza de la Patrona de Canary Islandsso the length is reduced to about 2,660 meters.

The Valle de Güímar regional treatment plant is essential for the treatment of wastewater generated by the municipalities of Candelaria, Arafo and Güímar. It largely solves the problem of discharges into the sea for which Spain is sanctioned by the EU. However, and despite the fact that its construction and testing has been completed, its commissioning is not possible because the municipalities largely lack sanitation and transportation networks to the treatment plant.
