SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The acting Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, Héctor Gómez, has advocated this Tuesday for “discretion” when negotiating a future new Government in view of the meeting held this Monday in Brussels between the leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, and the former Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont.

In an interview given to ‘Radio Club Tenerife’ and collected by Europa Press, he insisted on appealing to “serious, rigorous work under the umbrella of discretion” and framed Díaz’s meeting as an initiative of Sumar, not of the Government, for what she will be the one who will have to “account for.”

Gómez has pointed out that we must act “responsibly” and along these lines, he has stressed that “all the measures” approved by the Government in Catalonia “have been aimed at facilitating coexistence”, putting on the table that “no one can say that the situation is no better” than the one inherited in 2017.

“I make many visits to Catalonia and it shows,” he noted, which is why he has insisted on “continuing to move in that direction.”

The minister has also indicated that in the PSOE they are “confident” that they will be able to form because they are “in a position to achieve a majority” but admits that “now is the time” for the leader of the PP even though he is heading towards a “failed investiture.” “.

In this sense, he has indicated that the PSOE will work to achieve the majority “whenever it is necessary” and based on “dialogue” with parliamentary parties and groups and with the “road map” and “country project” that has allowed for improvement. the situation in territories that were “very tense”, in the case of Catalonia.

“We are convinced of reaching the majority but we respect the times and they are in the hands of the leader of the PP,” he explained.

Regarding the rise in irregular migration in the Canary Islands, he has defended the “new framework” of relations with Morocco because it affects many areas and follows the “appropriate channel”, highlighting that the boats “do not leave only Morocco.”

In his opinion, migration is a “global phenomenon” and a “real drama” for which “greater” actions and a “global response” from the EU are needed because there is a lot of political “instability” in Africa and that is generating a “stampede and massive departure” of people.

Gómez has indicated that the asylum pact “is very good” but maintains that the EU must be “very forceful” to collaborate with the host countries and help “alleviate reality.” “It is a mistake to limit this only to Morocco, these people come from other countries, which is why a global response is needed,” she added.
