An island subsidy of 50,000 euros will allow the promotion of municipal Craft Fairs in Tenerife during the current year. The advisor of Employment of the Cabildo, Efraín Medina, highlights the initiative as part of the “promotion and promotion to market local production.”
Medina points out that “it is about reaching all the municipalities of the Island -31- “so that all the people who live there can see and purchase the products that our artisans make with their own hands.” An objective that Medina considers “very important”
The Craft Fairs will be held in the annual calendar – some have already done so – in La Matanza de Acentejo, El Tanque, Guía de Isora, La Victoria de Acentejo, Garachico, Santa Úrsula, Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos, El Sauzal, Candelaria, Adeje or Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Medina indicates that “craftsmanship is part of our most genuine identity and our heritage; For this reason, I will hold a meeting shortly with all the people responsible in this specific area throughout the Island to promote fair meetings or meetings between artisans in different modalities.
The counselor understands that these sharings represent the beginning of the path towards “a way of marketing our artisan products, both innovative and traditional.”
Medina goes on to conclude that “different artisanal development actions are being prepared to give more value to our products and crafts.”
