SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, September 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The acting Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, Héctor Gómez, admitted this Friday that there is “room for improvement” in the working conditions of housekeepers as is the case “in all areas” and for this reason he has indicated that “there is steps” to take in all sectors, including tourism, to “achieve excellence.

In statements to journalists on the occasion of a visit to Tenerife, he indicated that the dialogue and dialogue between the tourism employers and the unions “must continue” to “continue strengthening and improving working conditions.”

Along these lines, he has assessed that 80% of contracts in the tourism sector are indefinite, which demonstrates its “stability”, something that he has attributed to the labor reform and other measures implemented by the Government.

The maids demonstrated this Thursday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to demand an improvement in working conditions and in memory of a worker, who died a week ago in a hotel complex in Tenerife due to cardiorespiratory arrest.
