Red Cross will have a new logistics warehouse in Tenerife



The Red Cross has received a grant of 200,000 euros from the Natural Environment and Security Management Area of ​​the Island Council of Tenerife, for the acquisition of a warehouse for the storage, classification and dispatch of logistics material, usable in case of emergency in the Tenerife island.

In a statement issued by the NGO, it is stated that the investment is fully in line with the strategic objectives of the Island Council of Tenerife, in order to strengthen resilience and preparation for high-impact emergencies, providing an efficient and effective response to the needs of the community.

The logistics warehouse, located in the San Isidro-El Chorrillo industrial estate, in the municipality of El Rosario, has an area of ​​388 square meters, with an architectural configuration that allows a versatile use of space, compatible with storage requirements. industrial and operation in emergency situations.

“This new acquisition represents a reinforcement of the capacities and response mechanisms of the Organization in terms of relief and emergency, designed for the specialized care of possible people affected by critical situations that may occur on the island, since it will be equipped with a large amount of material resources, such as blankets, personal hygiene kits, folding stretchers, food or emergency vehicles.”

Likewise, it will have a human team, made up of volunteers and contracted personnel, who will work from these facilities, in the Immediate Emergency Response Teams, specialized in health care and classification of victims, psychosocial intervention, temporary shelter, communications and coordination of personnel. , search and rescue in the terrestrial and aquatic environment, and humanitarian aid to immigrants. In addition, the rest of the personnel who coordinate aquatic and land preventive services, maritime rescue and medical transportation.

In addition, the strategic location facilitates access and rapid mobilization in case of emergencies, which is an appropriate enclave for operations in the event of any emergency on the island.

“As a result of the latest emergencies that occurred in the archipelago, the need to strengthen the logistical infrastructure of the Red Cross on the islands has become clear, consolidating its role as a collaborating entity in the National Civil Protection System,” they state. Therefore, this acquisition is part of a broader strategy to support humanitarian action and civil protection, in line with current and future demands in the region.
