VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), Aug. 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A cayuco with 98 migrants of sub-Saharan origin on board arrived this Wednesday at the port of La Restinga, in the municipality of El Pinar, escorted by the Salvamar Adhara, of Maritime Rescue, and a Civil Guard patrol boat.
The cayuco, which had a leak, was sighted by personnel from the Mar de las Calmas marine reserve about three miles south of the island.
The members of the canoe, among whom there were two women and eleven minors, according to data from 112 Canarias, were treated at the dock and one minor was referred to a hospital and another eight had hypothermia.
