SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has advanced this Wednesday that it will promote an insular plan for the promotion and improvement of the industrial estates of Tenerife with the intention of “promoting industrial activity as a fundamental tool towards the path to economic diversification on the island”.
The Minister of Industry, Manuel Fernández, visited the Ofra-Costa Sur industrial estate this Wednesday, together with the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, and the Councilor for Works and Infrastructures, Javier Rivero, where he stressed that the Cabildo wants to give a “boost” to the industrial sector of the island, “bearing in mind that it is a fundamental sector in the generation of stable and quality employment”, which is why, for the first time in the history of this institution, the Cabildo has with a specific department dedicated to the industry.
During the visit, Fernández assured that collaboration with the city councils “is absolutely necessary” in order to achieve the objective of the mandate, which involves promoting measures that, in a coordinated manner, make it possible to have industrial estates in the best possible conditions so that become “attractive spaces” for the development of economic activities.
The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, stressed that “during this visit the intention has been to make the island councilor aware of the situation presented by this industrial estate and to seek the collaboration of that administration to rehabilitate and promote the industrial facilities located in different places in the municipality.
For his part, Javier Rivero, Councilor for Infrastructures, stated that “this visit coincides with the tender for the development of five streets by the area” and has insisted that it is about seeking collaboration from the island institution to the improvement of this and other industrial zones, such as those located in the Southwest district, “where there is the greatest forecast of growth of industrial land, with the development of the El Chorrillo industrial estate, adjacent to La Campana”.
Fernández also stressed that in addition to municipal works, related to the improvement of roads and sanitation, from the Cabildo they seek to highlight the industrial estates of Tenerife “as entities that generate wealth and that attract investment.”
For this reason, the counselor assured, “we have started a round of visits to all the polygons on the island, with the intention of having direct and close contact with industrial entrepreneurs, which allows us to have a more strategic vision of the lines of action in this area”.
