TENERIFE FIRE |  The Cabildo invests 7.7 million in two helicopters for the fire service

The Council of Tenerife allocates 7.7 million euros for the hiring of two helicopters for carrying out the combat service fires during the period 2024-2028.

The Government Council held this Wednesday has awarded the charter contract to the company Eliance Helicopter Global Services SL in order to have two helicopters —one for 365 days a year and another for 180 days a year— and technical support personnel for the purpose of fighting forest fires in the period between 2024-2028.

The service is expected to be provided from Tenerife South Airport, informs the Cabildo in a note. Among the services provided by helicopters is the fire extinguishing by launching straight of water, alone or with specific retardants (foams) and the transportation of personnel and their extinguishing equipmentboth in forest fires and in practices, training and reconnaissance, surveillance and deterrence flights.

Likewise, it allows the logistical transport of personnel, equipment, systems and any cargo that is considered necessary for the prevention and extinction of forest fires.

the helicopters They will be used for the training and training of BRIFOR personnel of the Cabildo, especially in the use and coordination of aerial means, and participation in forest fire drills.

Aircraft also provide advice and technical support in extinguishing forest fires, technical support in preventing forest fires (surveillance, reconnaissance, evaluation, patrolling, documentation, measurement of fires and burned areas, technical reports) and aerial coordination.

In addition, they allow the capture of images, both photographic and video in real time, of all incidents detected for transmission to the Island Operational Coordination Center (Cecopin).

The two helicopters will also be able to provide support in the activities carried out by the area of Natural Environment and Security of the Cabildo such as surveillance and observation of protected natural spaces, support in search and rescue operations, support flights for emergencies Civil protectionlogistical support within the framework of civil protection, including external or cabin cargo movements if necessary and cabin cargo movement missions related to emergency response or logistical support for the needs of the public sector.

Within the area of Social action The extension of the specialized service developed by the Insular Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) for attention to the consumption of toxic substances by pre-adolescents and adolescents in a situation of helplessness or risk in Tenerife for an amount of 40,000 euros.

More than 880,000 euros for unaccompanied minors

In addition, The extension of the residential care service for unaccompanied foreign minors was approved with a measure of protection or guardianship for an amount of 881,152.84 euros.

Likewise, it was approved extension of the transportation service to users of the CAMP Reina Sofía de Güímar for the amount of 256,982.45 euros and the extension of the residential care service for unaccompanied foreign minors with a measure of protection or guardianship with the Mundo Nuevo Solidarity Association for 2,485,497.91 euros.

In the Tourism area, the tender for the service contract for drafting the basic project and executing the improvement and conditioning of the Sandstone Coastal Walk (La Laguna) for an amount of 223,049.06 euros.

In the area of ​​Sports, the Governing Council approved the bases and the call for subsidies intended for sports clubs, sports Federations and individual athletes as aid for travel to official national and international sports competitions within the period between 1 January and April 30, 2023.
