The City Council publishes the analyzes of the water on the beaches twice a week

The citizens of Granada and potential users of the beaches of Granadilla de Abona will know the quality of the bathing water through the digital platforms, web and social networks of the City Council. The local government announces that it publishes the results of the laboratory tests on the state of the waters of its beaches, once it has the data provided by the quality control service of the bathing areas carried out by the Department of Municipal Public Services every Monday and Thursday throughout the year.

The results will be announced visually and intuitively, through two graphs, one for each type of bacteria analysed: Escherichia coli (E. coli) and intestinal enterococci. Samples for analysis are taken every Monday and Thursday, and the laboratory sends the data to the municipal administration the following day, Tuesday and Friday, respectively.

The beaches covered by this service are Cuevas del Trigo, Ensenada Pelada, La Jaquita, El Cabezo, Playa Chica, central beach of El Médano, Leocadio Machado, La Tejita, El Chinchorro and Playa Grande de Los Abrigos.

The mayoress, Jennifer Miranda, indicates that starting “this week the results of these analyzes will be made known to the population on a regular basis, as a measure that we consider essential and as a necessary exercise of transparency and responsibility to keep users informed of our beaches of the suitability of the waters of the bathing areas of Granadilla de Abona».

The Councilor for Municipal Public Services, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, explains that these analyzes reinforce the fortnightly inspection of the Canary Islands Health Service, “taking into account the large influx to our coast, especially on vacation.”
