SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has indicated this Tuesday that he misses “a clear position” of the acting Government of Spain in the face of the situation that is taking place with immigration on the coasts of the archipelago.

Clavijo has exposed this in statements to journalists after the solemn act for the Virgin of Candelaria, in Tenerife, where he has acknowledged that on this occasion the cabinet of the acting president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, contacted his to indicate that he would be in Lanzarote “without an official agenda” because he was on vacation.

In this sense, he assures that it seems “good that the president comes on vacation” to the Canary Islands and that “for once” -in the years that Clavijo has been president of the Canary Islands- he has contacted the cabinet but, he has admitted, that he misses “a clear position and, at least, a little sensitivity with what is happening” on the coasts of the archipelago.

In any case, and although Pedro Sánchez was on vacation on the island of Lanzarote, he considered that with what is happening “unfortunately” with migration, he “would have liked a gesture”, since what is happening “is not only serious “, but that it is about minors, deceased and “it seems that nobody cares”.

The Canarian president said he was aware that what there is in Spain is a government in office but that “it is charging” and with which “the affairs of the Canary Islands continue to stand still, at the table of the Minister of Finance or at the table of the minister shift”.

In this sense, he regretted that “the money for the island of La Palma, the 100 million euros, “still has not been updated”, added that inflation continues “especially punishing the Canaries” and the migration issue, on which he pointed out that the Minister of Foreign Affairs had already anticipated what was going to happen. “We still don’t have an answer,” he pointed out.

ASKS THE VIRGIN: HEALTH, WISDOM AND STRENGTH

The Canarian president has been this Tuesday in the solemn act of the Virgin of Candelaria, on the island of Tenerife, on which he has indicated that “always” is a “special” date for all the Canaries and for him personally.

“I always like to come and be able to have that little moment of recollection and ask the Virgin to give us wisdom, to give us health and strength to face the challenges that lie ahead,” he concluded.
