The Government of the Canary Islands has declared the situation of maximum alert for risks of forest fires in Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Gran Canaria from 00:00 hours on August 10.
This decision is made through the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies and taking into account the information available and in application of the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Attention due to Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (INFOCA).
The heat wave that will affect the entire Canary Islands has caused this decision to be made. As of August 9, an African air mass will begin to affect the archipelago starting this Wednesday, August 9, and temperatures will increase as the days go by.
